Ridemate cares about your privacy. This policy explains what information the app collects and how it is used. Ridemate has no sign-up or user accounts, and most information is stored only on your device.
1. Information We Collect
1-1. Information stored only on your device
- Vehicle information (brand, model, year, mileage)
- Consumable replacement records and maintenance history
- Ride records (route, distance, time, speed, etc.)
- Medical information (blood type, allergies, emergency contact)
- Insurance information (expiry date, etc.)
- App settings and preferences
This information is stored in your device's local storage and is not sent anywhere except in the cases described in 1-2 to 1-6 below. Backup files leave your device only when you choose where to save or share them.
1-2. Location information
- Ride records: Location is used to record distance, speed and route while riding. Records are stored only on your device
- Weather and air quality: Your current location is sent to the weather provider (OpenWeatherMap) to retrieve this information
- Notification target information: Your last known location is stored on our server (Firebase) to send location-based weather and maintenance notifications (see 1-3)
- Visited places: To find the names of places where you stopped during a ride, the coordinates of those points are sent through our server to Google place search (Google Places). The coordinates are not stored on our server
- Emergencies: When crash-detection SOS is triggered (Android) or when you share your location yourself, your current location is included in the message/share and delivered to the recipient you choose
1-3. Push notifications and notification target information
- Firebase Cloud Messaging is used for maintenance and weather notifications
- To send notifications from our server, the following is stored on our server (Firebase Firestore): a random identifier generated by the app, the notification token, your last known location (latitude/longitude), language setting, and a summary of consumables that need replacement (count and some consumable names)
- No personally identifying information such as your name, phone number or license plate is included
1-4. Photo AI analysis
- When you use automatic insurance expiry extraction, dashboard warning light check, or odometer reading from a dashboard photo, the photo (or PDF) you take or select is sent to Anthropic (Claude AI) for analysis
- The first time you use these features, you are shown a notice and asked for consent. If you do not agree, no photo is sent
- Ridemate only receives the analysis result and does not store photos on Ridemate's servers. Anthropic's handling of data is governed by the Anthropic Privacy Policy
- For documents containing personal information, such as insurance certificates, we recommend capturing only the parts that are needed
1-5. Usage analytics
- To improve the service, Firebase Analytics collects in-app activity data in de-identified form (screen views, vehicle registration, ride start/end and ride statistics, insurance scan usage, SOS button usage, consumable replacement records, card sharing, and other feature usage and frequency)
- Analytics data does not include personally identifying information such as your name or contact details, but may include a device identifier and approximate region (country)
1-6. Consent records
- Records of your consent to the Terms of Service, this Privacy Policy and photo AI analysis are stored on our server (Firebase Firestore)
- Stored items: a random identifier generated by the app (not your actual device ID, but a random value created only for this app), consent type, consent time, policy version agreed to, app version, language setting
- No personally identifying information such as your name or contact details is included; the purpose is legal proof of consent
2. How We Use Information
- Managing consumable replacement intervals and reminders
- Ride records and visited places
- Providing weather and air quality information
- Photo AI analysis (insurance expiry, warning lights, odometer reading)
- Sending emergency alerts when a crash or fall is detected (Android)
- Providing and improving app features
- Analyzing service usage through Analytics to prioritize improvements
- Legal proof of consent to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
3. Third-Party Services
- OpenWeatherMap: Weather and air quality information (location is sent)
- Firebase (Google): Push notifications, notification target storage, consent record storage, usage analytics (Analytics)
- Google Places (Google): Place name search for visited places (coordinates of stop points are sent)
- Anthropic (Claude AI): Photo AI analysis (photos/PDFs you select after giving consent are sent)
4. SMS (Android)
In the Android app, when the crash/fall detection feature is used, an SMS including your location is sent to the emergency contact you registered. The SEND_SMS permission is required and is enabled only after your explicit consent. The iOS app does not have this feature.
5. Data Security
Data stored on your device is deleted when you delete the app. Information sent to our server is transmitted over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and only the minimum information described in 1-3 and 1-6 is stored on the server.
6. Children's Privacy
Ridemate is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will notify you through an app update.
